The problem really is not a standing military but the lack of courage and resolve among those who claim they want to live free. Getting them to even publicly state what will be required to fix this mess if it can be fixed much less actually prepare for it is akin to looking for claws on sheep.
If we had the govt. we should have we’d still need a standing military of some sort. Washington struggled all through the revolution to create a professional army. When they utilized the militia they never knew if they would perform well as they sometimes did or run screaming like little girls. Indeed ‘professional trained soldiers and Marines’ are capable of such.
Technology is such today that without it I doubt we could hold this continent many more generations without it and we may not anyway. We are a nation ripe for invasion or destruction from within, which is well advanced.

What we so desperately need is a re-orientation of values. They should be held to their oaths to protect the Bill of Rights at the threat of their very lives.
Every cop and soldier, Marine, airman, sailor, coast guardsmen should be required to memorize them before being allowed to exercise any authority over anyone or their property.
It should be ruled not only legal but highly necessary to kill superior officers who issue orders to the contrary. They should be held to the same standard when issued similar orders by their civilian superiors.

The empire’s military hasn’t fought a war for Liberty since 1865 and the bad guys won that one.
Moreover, the Reciprocity Act is also supported by the same jurisdictional predicate as many other federal gun control laws: namely, that the firearm in question was once sold or transported in interstate commerce. This is not really consistent with the original meaning of the Interstate Commerce Clause. But if the Reciprocity Act were held to exceed Congress’s commerce powers, then much of the federal Gun Control Act would also be unconstitutional—such as laws that ban a person today from possessing a gun just because the gun was sold in interstate commerce four decades ago.
In short, whether you prefer that the Constitution be interpreted based on modern precedents, or based on original meaning, Congress has the discretion to pass the Reciprocity Act.

Reciprocity legislation was introduced in the House on January 3, 2017, but was not passed until December 6 after conservative representatives finally overcame Speaker Paul Ryan’s months of stonewalling.
National reciprocity now rests with the Senate, where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has been no more enthusiastic about it than Ryan was in the House. In fact, on August 13, 2017, Breitbart News reported that McConnell was mum on national reciprocity.
In other words, instead of seizing the momentum of a Republican-controlled Senate to pass the pro-Second Amendment legislation, McConnell dithered. He dithered so long that we are nearing the end of the year and, with Jones’s win, nearing the end of a 52-seat majority.

These didn’t come from anyone’s god but from years of frustration and anger over the willful ignorance of my fellow tool-using monkeys:
1. Thou shalt not treat any human being like a jackass by requiring them to trade their health, their life, or an extreme amount of their time in this world just to ‘make a living’ which really amounts to enriching others.
2. Thou shalt not call any human being a ‘human resource’ or ‘consumer’ or treat them as products.
3. Thou shalt not make war for profit. Thou shall make war for Liberty when it proves necessary and kill if necessary those who work covertly or overtly to enslave those around them.
4. Thou shalt never question the right of any individual to fight back against or kill those who would seek to oppress or enslave them nor tolerate any self-appointed or democratically elected ‘god-appointed’ kings, dictators, rulers or whatever they may be called in the future.
5. Thou shalt not seek to disarm the common people such that they cannot make war upon and conquer or destroy if necessary those who would seek to rule them.
6. Thou shalt not force thine own version of reality on another either through government force nor via any contrived quilt trip or threat of eternal punishment by a sadistic god of any origin.
7. Thou shalt not question the right of any individual or group to question the motives of any other individual or group.
8. Thou shalt not force others to unwillingly participate in your version of what ‘charity’ is since charity comes from the heart, not a government or religious gun.
9. Thou shalt not force thy version of ‘morality’ on others except to keep those who have truly harmed others or their property from repeating their crimes.
10. Thou shalt love thy neighbors better than thyself with the recognition that just because you don’t mind being a slave to one version of authoritarianism or another doesn’t mean they want to share in your slavery.
When I see that we’ve had a Bill of Rights for 200 years that so few deign to understand or value I figure in about 10,000 years the tool-using monkeys will be ready to understand these 10 precepts.
If they don’t kill each other off over whose version, sub-version or subversion of how to ‘save’ mankind is ‘right.’
