Salafis believe that the Qur’an, the Hadith and the consensus (ijma) of approved scholarship (ulama) along with the understanding of the Salaf us-salih as being sufficient guidance for the Muslim. As the Salafi da’wa is a methodology and not a madh’hab in fiqh (jurisprudence) as commonly misunderstood, Salafis can come from the Maliki, Shafi’i, Hanbali or the Hanafi schools of Sunni fiqh[23] and accept teaching of all four if supported by clear and authenticated evidence from the Sunnah. In the face of clear evidence, be it from Qur’an or Hadeeth, they support scholars’ engagement in ijtihad – if they are qualified – as opposed to total blind imitation (taqlid). Their theological views are based on the Athari creed as opposed to kalam, dialectics or any form of philosophy deemed speculative.

FK – Gee, a religion, and all religions are successful cults, claiming that its religious book is ‘sufficient’ to understanding the world. Imagine that. We are still a very primitive species and we still exist in a very dark age.
So who or what are our real enemies? Are they hiding in a cave on the other side of the world? If the fundie ragheads gain a foothold here who will be to blame?

What does Islamic State want?
Having established a caliphate, Islamic State now believes that it is the duty of all Muslims to emigrate to it and renounce their citizenship of any other nation. It regards any form of government other than its own as anathema to Islam. According to Graeme Wood, Islamic State’s leadership believe they are on course for an apocalyptic battle with their enemies, from which they will emerge victorious. They foretell, he writes in The Atlantic, “that the armies of Rome [usually interpreted as any Christian or non-Islamic force] will mass to meet the armies of Islam in northern Syria; and that Islam’s final showdown with an anti-Messiah will occur in Jerusalem after a period of renewed Islamic conquest.” As such, Islamic State supporters actively welcome the prospect of western intervention, which they believe will hasten their own final victory.

Many mainstream Muslim organizations have gone so far as to say the Islamic State is, in fact, un-Islamic. It is, of course, reassuring to know that the vast majority of Muslims have zero interest in replacing Hollywood movies with public executions as evening entertainment. But Muslims who call the Islamic State un-Islamic are typically, as the Princeton scholar Bernard Haykel, the leading expert on the group’s theology, told me, “embarrassed and politically correct, with a cotton-candy view of their own religion” that neglects “what their religion has historically and legally required.” Many denials of the Islamic State’s religious nature, he said, are rooted in an “interfaith-Christian-nonsense tradition.”

Modern churches are full of cowards and re-married divorcees, and all sorts of other un-biblical creations. Maybe they just got tired of fighting over the contradictory politically corrected mish mash they claim to follow.
