Rubio Introduces Bill to Gut D.C.’s Anti-gun Laws

Senator Marco Rubio (shown, R-Fla.) introduced a bill on Thursday that would end the Washington, D.C., council’s ongoing war against guns by removing their authority to make and enforce anti-gun laws altogether. Because it is a federal district, Washington, D.C., falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Congress and, consequently, the D.C. council operates at the discretion of Congress.

It was clear from his announcement that Rubio was fed up with the council’s resistance to make laws that conformed with national policy: “For years, the District of Columbia has infringed on its residents’ Second Amendment rights and … rendered them vulnerable to criminals…. This legislation will finally allow D.C.’s law-abiding residents and visitors access to firearms for sporting or lawful defense of themselves and their homes, businesses and families.”

The council has been dragging its feet ever since the 2008 Heller case (District of Columbia v. Heller) ruled that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual’s right to keep and bear arms, even in the District. The council drafted new rules that were so draconian and restrictive in their nature that a federal judge ruled last year that they also were unconstitutional. Today an applicant for a concealed handgun permit faces an intimidating and expensive process including his need to show a “good reason” why he wants one at all. Even after all that, the council “may” issue the permit, but more likely it will not.

FK – I hate to admit I might agree with the commie. Rubio is probably trying to get attention. Still it’s a great idea, something for whatever NWO hack that gets into the now red house next to veto while gun and ammo sales continue until enough see the necessity of doing what will be required.

Gun Rights Champion: GOP Leaders Are The ‘Most Spineless Group Of Urchins’ One Can Imagine

According to Larry Pratt, the Executive Director of Gun Owners of America, Second Amendment supporters are telling him the “Republican Party is an enormous disappointment.”

He continued, “People elected them to come and stop Barack Obama. They said that was the one thing they would do.”

“They are the most spineless group of urchins that ever could have been imagined,” Pratt declared. “They signed up for the job and now they’re MIA.”

Pratt is calling for more primary challenges to the Republicans who said one thing and then changed when they got to Washington. He thinks “we need 100 more like David Brat,” the college professor who campaigned, challenged and beat Eric Cantor in a primary last June.

FK – Mr. Pratt shouldn’t insult urchins like that.

FK – THIS IS NOT A DEMOCRACY! Read the Constitution! Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on lunch. Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote. That’s what the Second Amendment was written to acknowledge.

The problem is the ‘sporting purpose’ definition in GCA ’68. Why isn’t the NRA pushing hard to repeal GCA ’68 and the NFA and ‘all’ the gun laws?

The purpose of the Second Amendment is our natural born right to kill government employees when it becomes necessary. Why are so many too cowardly to publicly state this simple truth?

Why isn’t the NRA fighting illegal immigration? The commies want the illegals here so they can get them to vote commie. What will that do for our ‘gun rights?’

Why isn’t the NRA training the militia for what will be required?

GOA Alert: Legislative Shoot-out Expected in the U.S. Senate

Within the next 72 hours, gun owners should expect votes in the U.S. Senate on:

* Outlawing ATF bullet bans

* Concealed Carry Reciprocity

* Prohibiting Senate anti-gun amendments.

We expect more gun-related showdowns in the next 72 hours than in the next 9 months combined.  At least 5 gun-related amendments are expected on the Budget Resolution — a once-a-year vehicle that gives senators an opportunity to get hundreds of votes on any issue they choose.

And at least five senators have chosen to get votes on guns.

We have already told you about the Crapo amendment to shut down Operation Choke Point — which has been used by Eric Holder to try to financially strangle the gun industry.

FK – In reality they should only be allowed to vote on one issue at a time and only  consider one bill at a time and be required to pass a test to show they actually read it before they vote on it…

Impending “Armor-Piercing” Ammo Ban Bill Undermines Argument to Ban “Green Tip” Rounds

When the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives backed off from (for the moment) last week from their intent to ban M855 “green tip” ammunition, because of the threat it ostensibly poses to law enforcement officers (a “threat” that seems not to ever have materialized in the nearly 30 years of the ammo’s availability on the civilian market), the anguished bleating of the gun ban zealots was long and loud.

The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence called it a “[v]ery disappointing decision”–language echoed by House Democrats, who added their contention that it is within BATFE Director B. Todd Jones’ “existing authority” to go ahead with such bans. Congressman Eliot Engel, (D-NY) was in particularly high dudgeon:

“Armor piercing rounds like green tips should only be in the hands of military personnel or police officers, period. There is absolutely no compelling argument to be made for anyone else to have access to them,” Congressman Engel said. “But the out of touch gun industry lobby is fighting tooth and nail to keep cop-killing ammunition [which seems not, in nearly 30 years, succeeded in killing a single cop] on the streets. We need to speak up on behalf of our police officers and say ‘stop the madness.'”

Engel introduced his bill to ban “armor piercing” ammunition last week, with H.R. 1358, the “Armor-Piercing Bullets Act.” From the text of the bill, the intent seems to be to grant the BATFE the authority to do just want that agency wanted to, with the proposed M855 ban. The obvious question here would be, “If the BATFE already, as House Democrats claim, has statutory authority to implement such bans, why would Engel feel the need to introduce legislation granting that authority”? Engel also indicated that he would soon be once again introducing his perennial attempt to ban the FN Five-seveN and its ammo–another “cop-killer” with little if any history of “cop-killing” in the U.S.

FK – Are we to assume that all these commies are representing that much support for this evil in their home districts or are they under orders from other places? Those are the questions that matter.

GOA Alert: Senate to Vote Next Week on Concealed Carry Reciprocity and other Gun Amendments

— Sen. Crapo moves to ‘Choke’ Operation Choke Point

Next week, there will be more gun votes on the floor of the United States Senate than there will be for the rest of the year put together.

The Senate will vote on an amendment by Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID) on whether to eliminate the Operation Choke Point program — designed by the Obama administration to squeeze the financial life out of the firearms industry.

In addition, the Senate is expected to vote on whether or not to implement national concealed carry reciprocity.  It could vote on whether ATF’s ban on AR-15 ammunition should be permanently prohibited.  It could vote on whether to make it illegal for the Senate to push semi-auto or magazine bans — or universal gun registries.

The vehicle will be the Concurrent Budget Resolution.  And it’s perhaps the only time when senators can — and do — offer amendments on ANYTHING THEY WANT.  And they offer hundreds of amendments.

But — and this is an important “but” — despite the fact that there will be hundreds of amendments, these votes will freeze senators into a “pro-gun” or “anti-gun” position.  And, when reciprocity or Choke Point come up again in two or three months, senators will find it almost impossible to shift from the positions they will take on the Budget Resolution next week.

Glenn Beck’s charges against NRA director divert attention from amnesty threat

Conservative media powerhouse Glenn Beck told The Blaze, a news and editorial outlet he founded, that following a one-hour telephone conversation, National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne La Pierre is opening a “fully transparent” ethics investigation into NRA director and Americans for Tax Reform president Grover Norquist. The development comes after Beck announced that he will resign his membership if Norquist is re-elected to the board.

While allegations that Norquist is “an agent of influence” on behalf of Islamic interests will raise concerns of many NRA members and gun owners in general, Beck did not cite one reason why his activities in that regard conflict with NRA’s bylaws, the charter that defines director eligibility and all other matters pertaining to operational policies. And while it’s useful for NRA’s voting members to know the truth about such ties (not surprisingly, Norquist and his American Conservative Union allies dispute and condemn the legitimacy of such criticisms) so that members can decide if that’s a personal show-stopper for them, chances are his reelection is already a done deal.
